Let's see if I can fill ya in. .
I'm companions with E. Buehner (pronounced Beaner). He's a tall, funny guy from AZ. Likes to hunt, drive his blazer around, and says it had a rockford fosgate system with 2 - 15 '' subs in the back. I would kill to have that system. And he loves country music. A real hick. But we hit it off well, and are gonna be just fine.
The ward I'm in is pure gold. Our bishop is very involved and very very wealthy - and happens to be our next door nieghbor - we have a ward mission leader who actually leaves with us and gets to know our investigators (that's a first in the mission), and we have weekly activities most of which are focused on the mission work. I really am loving it here.
In our first district meeting of the transfer thursday, President Corbitt stopped by to give us a mini training day on contacting. Always is an super spiritual day when you hear that guy speak. But get this, we meet in a BRAND NEW stake center RIGHT BY the beach. This chapel has only been in use for about 4 months. And it is hands down. the nicest chapel. I have every been in, seen, everything! I love it so much. It's purty. In our zone, like I said, we've got more than half the zone training. We have 13 trainers with 13 trainees and only a few others who are ''normal missionaries''. It's a big zone, and big work to keep everyone acting as one. The zone leaders before us did not have really any trust between them and other missionaires, it just didn't really seem like they were friends with anyone in the zone. We're gonna try and change that.
One last thing that's gonna make you all jealous - - I'm serving just a short 10 min run away from the beach. A BEACH!
It's the best way to start out the day. And today for p-day, we went out and read scriptures from the time the sun came up, until we fell asleep in our beach chairs and someone who was opening up told us we had to go. It's amazing, and I'm loving every minute of it.
We're getting very prepared for General Conferenence. It's coming up quick and we're getting as many people committed as possible for this weekend's festivities. Our bishop has announced that it will be in his backyard (because he has a generator plant and never loses light). I hope we can get a good turnout, because conference always has a way of helping people find answers to questions. 6 days, can't wait.
This has been the adventures of mission life with Elder Tate, tune in next week to see if the missionaries can help save the city with the good word of god.
We will have to wait and see what happens, but until next time,
